Phone 2.0

I love the term Phone 2.0 it embodies what 1Num Technology does. Thanks to the Web 2.0 pioneers for getting the word out that content and services can be offered by more than just the incumbents.

Since the introduction of the Public Service Telephone Network (PSTN) the phone has gone virtually unchanged. VOiP in it’s infancy just connected computers to the PSTN. Sure we moved from rotary to touch tone and from wireless to mobile. Even as we addend devices; pagers, cell phones, extra lines, we just added more devices with different limitations. Phone 2.0 makes your phones work not just for you but the people attempting to communicate with you.

Vonage pulled VOip into Phone 2.0. It’s feature rich services has left mom’s basement and is now mainstream. The patent litigation has been tough on Vonage’s stock but shows the importance of having an IP strategy. At 1Num we look to protect our space in Phone 2.0 with our own IP portfolio.

A few shout outs in our first post.
Jeff Black of TalkPlus and Craig Walker of GrandCentral - Thanks for taking the time to speak with this Hoosier at VON. I appreciate your time, insights and encouragements.
